I am pleased to be supporting Smart DCC in their current search for a Regulatory Accountant.  The organisation is helping to deliver a large programme to build a smart metering network across Great Britain.  This network aims to help Great Britain become a global leader in smart energy and the development of smart grids.  Smart DCC is working on behalf of this programme to establish and operate the data and communication infrastructure that will enable all UK homes to have a smart meter by 2020.

As the Regulatory Accountant, you will take on a challenging role that will develop both your technical and soft skills.  You will be given responsibility from day one, supporting the Head of Financial Reporting in managing the month-end processes, working with the wider commercial team to make sure that programme initiatives are understood and helping out with year-end.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the month-end processes in a timely fashion;
  • Assisting the Commercial Finance team to produce robust and accurate financial analysis;
  • Producing the regulatory and statutory accounts;
  • Resolving Division-wide queries and reviewing necessary business cases;
  • Producing the price control submission on a monthly basis;
  • Identifying risk and opportunities for improvements within the role.

The successful applicant will be a part-qualified or newly-qualified CIMA/ACCA accountant with experience in financial reporting and analysis.   You will come from a range of sectors, including Central Government, wider public sector, practice or commercial.  Applicants will have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to be able to interpret large volumes of data within a short timescale.  You will be a confident individual who can communicate effectively and takes initiative and responsibility for their own deliverables.  Finally, you will take an interest in challenging assumptions and processes and enjoy working in a changing and progressive environment.
