Think creatively – and improve lives.

Home to the UK’s monarchy, world-famous landmarks and the Government, Westminster is one of the most dynamic and exciting places in which to live and work. And with one million commuters and visitors passing through our streets each day – plus the fact that the area provides £55billion of the UK’s economic output – the challenges faced by the senior management team in Westminster City Council are on a scale that is quite unimaginable. It makes for a working atmosphere that is fast-paced, vibrant and exhilarating.

A key ethos at Westminster is that we are building a City for All – one in which every adult and child is able to fulfil their potential and enjoy the full benefits of this amazing city. To ensure we are creating and maintaining an area that supports the needs of its citizens, we have created a Bi-Borough team in which we are working with the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea to provide high-quality, value-for-money services.

As our Strategic Finance Manager, Children’s Finance Lead within this Bi-Borough team, you will play a crucial role in this success, providing innovative and creative solutions to the ongoing demands caused by reduced funding in the Public Sector. From financial and commercial analysis to identifying commercial opportunities– your progressive ideas and advice will be key to all child-related financial matters. You will also act as the lead financial adviser to the Schools Forum, ensuring we are giving children everything they need to succeed in their academic life.

We’re committed to working closer with families and communities to ensure these ambitions are realised, so to thrive in this exciting position you will need excellent communication skills, with the ability to guide and inform senior staff such as Executive Directors and lead Councillors. As a qualified accountant with the gravitas needed to develop and lead a high performing team, you will have significant experience of building partnerships and productive working relationships within a service environment. If you happen to have experience from working within Children’s Services, that would be even better.

At Westminster City Council, we hold firm to the belief that happy colleagues produce better results. As such, we will support your ambitions, with agile working options that will accommodate your lifestyle. Furthermore, we want you to remain with us as you develop your career, so we’ll encourage you to explore the possibilities open to you across our award-winning teams. With your work directly impacting on the future for the boroughs’ children, this is a role in which you can leave a lasting legacy of entrepreneurialism, innovation and excellence. There really is no limit to what you can achieve, so join us, and see where your future could take you.
